The second episode of 'City Stories' goes back almost 20 years to a game remembered for all the wrong reasons.

City Stories is a new series of mini-documentaries charting some of the most memorable and outrageous moments in the history of Manchester City.

Last month we heard from Niall Quinn and his team-mates on the day the striker had to go in goal and even saved a penalty at Maine Road!

This time around we’re looking back to a September 2005 encounter with European-chasing Bolton Wanderers.

It would be a game that brought to an end a 13-game unbeaten run for Stuart Pearce’s side that were growing in confidence.

Everyone in the Etihad - then named the City of Manchester Stadium - that day left with no idea as to how the Trotters had claimed the three points.

City proceeded to hit the woodwork on an astonishing five occasions, while Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen put in a typically superb display.

To compound our misery, the visitors earned a penalty when stalwart defender Richard Dunne handled in the box with just seconds left on the clock.

Bolton captain Gary Speed stepped up to convert and, somehow, the points went the way of our opponents.

This feature tells the story of an incredible afternoon through the eyes of the central characters, including David James, Kiki Musampa, fan Mark Bent and Bolton’s boss on that occasion, Sam Allardyce.

We also get reactions from current stars including John Stones, Bernardo Silva and Matheus Nunes - as they watch the footage back and marvel at our misfortune.
