City Mentoring promotes positive wellbeing for vulnerable young people across greater Manchester

City Mentoring is a programme aimed at young people aged 8-23 at risk of serious youth violence, and criminality, alongside young people who need extra support and guidance due to negative factors within their lives.

This provision is accessed through direct referrals from a number of referral pathways and the mentoring is adaptable to the individual needs of the participant, creating a bespoke plan that is targeted to the interests and levels of risk associated with the individuals.

As part of the City Mentoring, individual needs are assessed through the initial referral, initial meeting with the young person and an internal safeguarding meeting which assist in minimising any risks or vulnerabilities attached.

1-2-1’s are arranged around participant availability and cater for discussions around conflicts and positive outlooks. Mentors would keep case files on individuals to monitor progress throughout the programme along with risk assessing the young person.
