Manchester City Football Programmes is expanding its offering for young players across Greater Manchester with the launch of their Development Squads.
Starting in August 2026, the new paid football programme will give boys and girls aged 8 to 16 the chance to train each week with Manchester City football programmes coaches and play regular competitive fixtures at weekends.
The squads will initially be based in Sale, Oldham and Bolton, making it easier for families across Greater Manchester to access high-quality football coaching closer to home.
Designed for young players who want more than casual football training, the programme combines weekly coaching, local squad identity and weekend match play in local leagues.
Players will develop through sessions shaped by the Manchester City football philosophy, with a focus on technical quality, confidence, teamwork and playing positive, attacking football.
The programme is separate from Manchester City’s Academy and is designed to give young players a trusted environment to enjoy their football, improve their game and experience regular coaching and competitive football.
Open sessions will take place in July for families interested in finding out more before the programme begins in August.
