A proven pathway for progress

Clear routes for different ages, abilities and ambitions, with progress built into every stage.

A pathway simply means a clear way to keep developing over time. Manchester City Football Programmes are designed around that idea, with different options depending on your child’s age, experience and what they want from football right now.

Wherever they start, our focus stays the same: structured coaching, consistent standards, and support for long term development, in a challenging, enjoyable environment.

Because progress is not only about moving up a level, it’s about learning well at the level you’re in.

Player Pathway

Our pathway shows how programmes can connect across ages and stages, from first experiences through to higher intensity training.

Not every player will want the same route, and not every route is about moving up a tier. What matters is that each stage is built to help players improve their technique, game understanding and decision making, with clear challenges and clear learning outcomes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by a “pathway”?

A pathway is a clear way to develop over time, with programmes designed for different ages, stages and levels of experience. It helps parents understand where their child fits now and what options could make sense next.

Does my child need to be at a certain level to join?

No. We offer programmes for a wide range of abilities, and sessions are designed to be age appropriate and development focused, with coaching that helps players learn and improve over time.

Is progression only about moving into a higher tier?

Not necessarily. Progress can mean building stronger technique, making better decisions, and understanding the game more clearly at the level your child is in. If a different programme becomes a better fit later, the pathway helps make that step clearer.

How are sessions connected across programmes?

All programmes are built on the Manchester City coaching methodology, which creates consistency in how players learn, the standards coaches deliver to, and the principles we teach around Beautiful Football.

Does being on the pathway guarantee selection or a professional future?

No. We do not make promises about outcomes. What we do offer is structured coaching, clear learning focus and a positive environment that supports long term player development.
