Junior players can now start their journey of development, at the City Football Academy, a focus on physical literacy and coordination of new movements, this is to provide basic fundamentals of football to aid playing the game.

Programme Highlights

  • Summer programme starts on the 18th July 2026 and runs for 6 weeks with 1 training session per week.

  • All sessions delivered by established Manchester City Coaches, following the same philosophy used to develop City’s own players, delivered in a fun, positive and safe learning environment.  

  • All skill levels are catered for in this exciting programme aged 3-6 years and is priced from £95, plus £50 for kit.

Programme Content

First Kicks is designed for players new to football with a focus on physical literacy and coordination of new movements, this is to provide basic fundamentals of football to aid playing the game:

  • To introduce movement games, body control, balance and object control

  • To guide young players in controlling their body to play

  • To improve coordination and movement

Full Year 2025/26 Schedule

Each course has 1 weekly session, all aligned to the school calendar year. Sessions will take place on Saturday mornings.

  • Course 1: Autumn - 12 weeks (20th September to 13th December 2025) - Course Complete

  • Course 2: Winter - 12 weeks (10th January to 4th April 2026) - Course Complete

  • Course 3: Spring - 11 weeks (25th April to 4th July 2026) - Ongoing

Who are the courses aimed at?

Courses are aimed at players aged 3-5 years old, boys and girls, who like to play football and enjoying themselves.

All players should be physically able to participate in age-appropriate practical football training sessions.

For players with disabilities there are a number of initiatives delivered through City In The Community (CITC) where specialist staff will oversee more appropriate session content. Please visit https://www.mancity.com/community 

How much time prior to the session should my child arrive?

Players should arrive already changed in their kit approximately 15 minutes before the start of each scheduled session.

How to get to CFA and where to park?

What footwear should my child have?

All sessions will be delivered on artificial pitches.

As such, players should wear the appropriate footwear (boots for artificial/firm ground or turf trainers – no screw-in studs or running shoes).

What size kit should I order for my child?

Each player will receive a kit pack as part of their course enrolment, charged at £50. Kit sizes can be viewed here.

Who coaches the sessions?

Each coaching session is delivered by UEFA qualified Manchester City coaches. 

All coaches are DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service background checked), hold ‘First Aid in Football’ qualifications and hold the FA Safeguarding Children award (trained to promote best practice to protect young people). 

How are the courses grouped?

Players will be grouped by ability within age groups where possible to ensure maximum participation, positive learning opportunities and a fun experience for all.
