Manchester City’s form has seen them continually lauded this season by experts, many of whom feel Pep Guardiola’s side are taking football in the Premier League to a new level.

The Blues have played 17 games in all competitions, winning 16 and drawing one, with their haul of 52 goals in all competitions a record for a Premier League Club after 17 games.

And today it’s the turn of former West Ham striker Tony Cottee to lead the praise.

He says the Blues have strength in every department - but paid special tribute to the outstanding form of Kevin De Bruyne, who he says is the best in the business right now.

“I think some of them are superstars now,” Cottee said on Sky Sports.

“(Sergio) Aguero is one of the top, top strikers in the world.

“De Bruyne, I think on current form, has probably been the best player in the world.

“I’m not saying overall, I know what Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo etc, Neymar have done. But on current form he has been absolutely sensational.

David Silva, I’ve always been a great fan.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham defender Danny Rose says City, who have opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League already, will be difficult to catch.

“I know you can always say nothing is won in November but they are going to take some catching,” he told Tom Doyle at the Evening Standard. “We’re up for that challenge. We’ve already marked down when we play them - December 16.

“We’re looking forward to that and we just have to make sure that, if they do slip up any points along the way, we’re ready and prepared to catch them.”

And, finally, former City striker Stevan Jovetic is wanted by Southampton, according to Alex Crook writing in the Mirror.

The Montenegro striker only joined Monaco in the summer from Inter Milan – but Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino has earmarked him for a January switch.
