Season’s highlight

Mendy enjoyed a sensational start to the campaign, claiming five assists in his opening six Premier League games.

He produced an influential display in our opening day triumph at Arsenal, proving the creator for Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva as City kicked off the 2018/19 campaign the same way we ended the last - in style.

The pass for City’s second goal - a clever cut-back to the penalty spot for Bernardo to run onto and smash into the top corner - had been planned and practiced in the build-up to the game, inspired by Pep Guardiola’s Assistant Manager Mikel Arteta.

He did manage 15 games in total and contributed in all four of the competitions City went on to win, but if one player deserves a run of luck in 2019/20, it is Benjamin Mendy.
