Tricky winger who can play on the left or right
Captured from Real Zaragoza in his native Spain, Paolo Fernandes made his U18 debut against Stoke in October 2014 in the final game at Platt Lane before the move to the City Football Academy.
A pacey and tricky customer, the young Spaniard is effective on either flank, but has picked up the majority of his minutes in a City shirt on the right, and he delights in racing beyond the defence ready to play in his teammates in the attacking areas.
Possessing a dangerous, accurate free kick that leaves goalkeepers grasping at thin air, Paolo scored five times in 17 league appearances during his debut campaign and turned out three times as part of a highly competitive FA Youth Cup squad.
Not shy of the spectacular, Paolo picked up the Academy Goal of the Year gong for the 2014/15 campaign.
Rewarded with his u21 debut from the bench in April 2015, four months before his 17th birthday, Paolo went on to score 11 Premier League 2 goals during the 2016/17 season.
He will spend the 2017/18 campaign on loan at NAC Breda.
