A Norwegian youth international, Kjetil Haug joined City in 2014 from Sarpsborg 08 in his homeland.
Not picked up by a professional club until his teens, the keeper’s rapid development ensured that within 18 months he was in demand around Europe, trialling with no fewer than three British clubs before deciding on City.
The stopper already stands at over 6ft tall, and he combines his physical stature with a commanding presence in the penalty area and an excellent shot-stopping ability that breeds confidence in the defenders in front of him.
In his debut season in England, Haug took his place in the u18 squad and made eight league appearances while also getting his chance to shine between the sticks in the FA Youth Cup – he turned out five times including both legs of the semi-final and final.
After making his international bow at u16 level, the young Norwegian played 90 minutes in all but one of Norway’s matches as his country advanced to the final of the U17 Nordic Tournament in August 2014.
He is currently on loan at CF Peralada of Spain.
