After first entering the doors of City’s Academy at the age of eight, Charlie Oliver worked his way up the age groups with aplomb and was offered a two-year scholarship in July 2014.
An accomplished centre-back, Charlie is strong in the air and a commanding presence at the heart of the back four.
The defender made the jump to u18s football early, turning out 13 times for Jason Wilcox’s side during the 2013/14 campaign and scoring once while still eligible for the u16s.
Picking up where he left off in his first scholarship year, Charlie made 21 appearances at the heart of the defence for the u18s, while also making his first start for Patrick Vieira’s u21 squad.
His blend of talent, commitment and work ethic caught the World Cup Winner’s eye and Charlie trained with the EDS ahead of the 2015/16 campaign, wearing the captain’s armband in pre-season against Elche.
He has since gone on to become a regular member of the Elite Development Squad who he trains with on a daily basis.
