A pacey versatile player capable of playing at full-back, wing-back and in midfield, Ashley Smith-Brown possesses good positional awareness, tricky feet and lightning pace, providing coverage down the flanks at both ends of the pitch.
Ashley caught the eye in England u16s success in the Montaigu Tournament in Vendée in 2012, and was a regular for the Three Lions at u18 level during the 2013/14 campaign.
The England youth international made his City u18s debut in September 2011 against Nottingham Forest at just 15, and gave a typically assured performance that belied his tender years as City ran out 2-1 victors.
While injury disrupted his 2012-13 season, Ashley was handed the u18 captain’s armband on his return to action at the start of the 2013/14 and he led a young squad to the Premier League North Division title.
The 20-year old signed a new three-year deal in April 2016 after a strong season at EDS level.
He spent 2016/17 on loan at NAC Breda in Holland's Eerste Divisie and is currently on loan at Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.
