The 42-year old was appointed Head Coach of the U18s side in July 2016 as a replacement for Jason Wilcox, who was promoted to Head of Coaching for the Academy.

Carsley’s professional career began in 1994 and spanned 17 years with him featuring for Derby County, Blackburn Rovers, Coventry City, Everton and Birmingham City during that time.

As well as making 550 career club appearances, Lee enjoyed success with the Republic of Ireland on the international stage.

He earned his first cap at senior level in a 1-1 draw against Romania in October 1997 and went on to make 39 appearances for his country.

His transition into coaching came about in 2011 when he was appointed as the U18s manager at Coventry, leading them to runners-up spot in their respective league in his debut season.

Carsley then had roles at Sheffield United and Brentford before taking up a role in the England U19s set up and was part of the coaching staff for the 2016 UEFA European Under-19 Championships in Germany.
