Bio

England international Sandy MacIver signed for City in July 2022 on a three-year deal.

The goalkeeper made the switch to the Academy Stadium from fellow Barclays Women’s Super League side Everton, where she had began her foray into the game as a teenager, appearing in the FA Girls’ Youth Cup Final in 2014.

After moving to City’s Academy set-up a year later, she moved to the United States on a soccer scholarship with Clemson Tigers and went on to establish herself as the team’s first choice shot stopper for the duration of her three years in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

MacIver rejoined Everton following her graduation from Clemson University in January 2020 and made her professional debut just weeks later in a 3-1 league victory over Reading.

Establishing herself between the sticks for the Merseyside outfit, she was named Player of the Match in the 2020 Women’s FA Cup Final against City at Wembley Stadium, with Gareth Taylor’s side running out 3-1 winners after extra-time.

The 'keeper has also impressed on the international scene during her career to date, with her having represented England at various youth levels from Under-17s upwards, while she was handed her senior debut in a 6-0 friendly win over Northern Ireland in February 2021.

After carrying the Olympic Torch through the streets of Chester at London 2012, she was also part of Team GB’s women’s football squad for the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, being included alongside City’s Ellie Roebuck and Karen Bardsley in the initial squad.

And ahead of the upcoming 2022/23 season, MacIver swapped Merseyside for Manchester once more, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal at the Academy Stadium.
