Talented young centre-half
Twenty-three-year-old Phillippe Sandler is a product of the famed Ajax youth system and joined City from Dutch Eredivisie outfit, PEC Zwolle, in the summer of 2018.
Capped by the Netherlands U20s, Sandler stands at 6ft 2in and is a commanding presence at centre-back, while also comfortable in a holding midfield role.
The youngster turned out six times for the Elite Development Squad in his debut season, but was involved with the first-team throughout in training and as a travelling squad member on matchday.
He finished the campaign with two senior appearances to his name, making his debut in City’s 7-0 FA Cup win over Rotherham United and also playing the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.
Sandler spent the 2019/20 season on loan with Belgian club Anderlecht, making 11 appearances before a knee injury ended his season prematurely.
He is currently undergoing his recovery from an ankle operation and will aim to kick-on with his progress once he returns to action.
