Bio

Four-time PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year Lauren Hemp signed for City in May 2018.

The winger joined the Club from Bristol City, having bagged nine goals in an impressive 2017/18 campaign – including a stunning Goal of the Season contender against Arsenal.

Hemp, who began her career at hometown club Norwich before making the move to Bristol aged just 16, describes her playing style as creative and direct. A natural goalscorer, she shines in the final third with her desire to run at players and create chances.

Hemp's ambition, attitude and impressive displays have earned the winger plenty of individual acclaim.

In addition to her PFA accolades, Hemp also scooped the England Young Player of the Year award in 2017 and was named a SportsAid 'One To Watch'.

Despite her youth and the attention surrounding her, the humble forward is determined to remain grounded in a bid to reach the highest level.

A regular name in City's 2018/19 cup adventures, she scored her first goal for the Club in the 4-0 triumph at Aston Villa and bagging in the 3-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur. Today, she stands amongst our top scorers, having amassed 30 goals for the Club.

Our 2019 Conti Cup triumph marked her first trophy success with the Club and although she missed a penalty in the shoot-out, she more than made up for it with a goal in the FA Cup Final at Wembley, coming off the bench to add our third against West Ham.

Since then, her rise to stardom has been rapid. She is now widely regarded as one of the best players in the country. Having earned her first call-up to England's senior squad for the 2020 SheBelieves Cup tournament in America, she has established herself as one of the first names on the Lionesses teamsheet and represented Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics.

She was also part of the WSL Team of the Year in 2021/22 as City claimed the Continental Cup, and was also integral in England's Euro 2022 triumph over Germany.
