Composed, adaptable defender
Having joined the Academy aged eight, Lakyle has progressed into a fine defender, comfortable both at centre-back and right-back.
After he signed his scholarship in July 2022, Samuel formed part of the Under-18s squad that retained the Under-18 Premier League title in 2022/23. He made a total of 31 appearances between the Under-18s and EDS in a successful first season in competitive football.
For the 2023/24 season, Lakyle stepped up to the EDS squad and made 24 appearances, including appearances in the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League.
At the end of another strong campaign, Samuel travelled to America with the first-team as part of the pre-season squad. He went on to make his senior debut in our friendly against Chelsea.
And the defender will be looking to apply what he learnt on tour throughout the 2024/25 season with the EDS.
