Commanding, strong defender
Jadel has been a key-part of every age-group team he has represented.
A powerful central defender, Katongo featured regularly with the Under-18s in 2020/21 as the youngest member of the side, playing in key games in the title-winning campaign.
He again stepped up in 2021/22, playing 18 times as we retained the Under-18 Premier League trophy and made his debut at EDS level.
Katongo subsequently progressed to the EDS for the 2022/23 season and made his first appearance for Pep Guardiola‘s side in the December friendly with Girona.
Katongo spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Peterborough United, helping the Posh win the EFL Trophy in April 2024. He made a total of 43 appearances and featured in Peterborough’s League One Play-off at Wembley.
He made his senior debut for City in our pre-season clash with Celtic in North Carolina three months later as he returned to the Club in the summer.
And, for the 2024/25 campaign, Jadel has now returned to Peterborough on loan for a second successive season.
