Bio

EDs lead coach

After a playing career in non-league football, Ben – the son of hugely respected former Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday boss Howard Wilkinson – made the move into coaching and spent more than seven years on the coaching staff at Sheffield Wednesday.

Since joining City he has enjoyed successful spells in a number of roles including as both assistant head coach of our EDS and then as lead coach of our Under-16s.

Ben then took charge of our Under-18s in the summer of 2021 as well as overseeing the Under-17 Premier League Cup triumph in 2022.

Under Ben’s leadership, City became the first Under-18 team to win three consecutive Premier League north and national titles.

Most recently, City came from a goal down to beat West Ham United 2-1 in extra-time at the Etihad Stadium to lift their third trophy.

In the 2023/24 season, City’s Under-18s lifted another trophy under Wilkinson’s guidance. A 4-0 win over Leeds United at the Etihad saw us triumph in the FA Youth Cup.

Wilkinson then made the step up to Under-21 level football, becoming the Lead Coach of City’s Elite Development Squad for the 2024/25 campaign.
