‘‘Accomplished central defender’’
Aoife Mannion joined the Club on 5 July on a two-year deal from Birmingham City, and will wear the number two shirt.
Mannion, 23, has established herself as one of the most accomplished defenders in the Women’s Super League and has been a mainstay of the Birmingham side over the past few seasons.
She was named the PFA Women’s Super League’s 2019 team of the year and made the second highest number of passes in the WSL – behind City’s Steph Houghton – last season.
After progressing with Aston Villa’s Centre of Excellence, she made the move to Birmingham City in 2013 and has since gone from strength to strength.
Aoife graduated from Birmingham University in 2017 with a first-class degree in Economics and combined her studies with her first-team duties with Birmingham.
An England international at Under 15, Under 17, Under 19, Under 20 and Under 23 level, and was a member of England's squad at the 2010 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship and the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada.
Now, in addition to her determination to help City achieve even more success, Aoife harbors aspirations of going on to her full international breakthrough with the Lionesses.
