City v Leeds: Guardiola's team news update

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that with the exception of Ferran Torres, City have a fully fit squad to pick from for Tuesday’s Premier League home clash with Leeds United.

The boss had revealed earlier this month that Ilkay Gundogan had a slight issue with his back that had to be monitored.

But asked at Monday’s press conference about the German international’s fitness and whether he would be available for selection against Leeds, the boss gave a positive update with long-term casualty Torres, who is recovering from a foot injury, the only player unavailable other than the suspended Joao Cancelo.

“Everyone is fit except Ferran,” Guardiola added.

Table-topping City play host to Leeds in a fine run of form with Saturday’s 1-0 win over Wolves our sixth successive Premier League win.

Leeds meanwhile have had mixed fortunes so far this term, and are currently 15th in the table, losing out to an injury time winner to go down 3-2 at Chelsea on Saturday.

But asked about his thoughts and what he would expect from the Marcelo Bielsa’s side tomorrow, the boss was unequivocal in his response.

“The same. Before, we played against them, we knew it, we felt it. It is one of the toughest opponents,” the City boss stressed.

“They play every week in a special unique way, and we play against the special and unique way just two times a year. It is completely different to other opponents.

“They are going to play in a way we are not used to in these kinds of games.

"At the same time, it is at the Etihad, we know a lot of people will be there and we want to do a good game tomorrow.

“Patrick Bamford was injured for a long time now. Kalvin Phillips, too. A few important players.

“But if there is one person who doesn’t complain about what happens, it is Marcelo. He loves to work when the situation is tough. You have seen the stats and style.

“There is no game where they don’t create more chances than the opponent.

“We will have to adapt to try and do what we want to do.”
