Bernardo Silva: City replicating title winning form
Bernardo Silva believes Manchester City are showing Premier League winning form after beating defending champions Liverpool to record our 14th consecutive victory in all competitions.

The emphatic win stretched Pep Guardiola’s side’s unbeaten run to 21 games and the Portuguese midfielder feels like the momentum is building just as it did for our 2018 and 2019 title triumphs.

City have not lost since the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in November and, in the league, are five points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.

In 2017/18, Guardiola’s men registered a Club record 20 consecutive victories in all competitions, whilst the following season we won our final 14 league games to edge Liverpool in the race for the championship.

Bernardo says such runs are crucial for a team’s title aspirations as he declared City’s confidence is sky high.

“It is important to have these kind of runs if you want to be champions,” he explained. “The team is really solid, doing well.

“The beginning of the season was not easy for us but then after a few months I think everyone showed our focus to win again because last season was quite frustrating for us.

“There is still a long way to go but we are happy with the performances from the team in these past few months especially.

“When you have a good momentum it always feels good. It always builds your confidence and strength of the team.

“It feels a little bit like the 2017/18 season and the end of the 2018/19 season when we won plenty of games in a row to win the Premier League.

“We are feeling strong at the moment, but we have got very, very tough games ahead of us right now.”

Swansea City are up next for Guardiola’s men, who travel to the Liberty Stadium for an FA Cup fifth round tie on Wednesday 10 January.

Two years ago, City fought back from two goals down to beat the Swans 3-2 in the same competition, with Bernardo scoring to get us back into the game.

The 26-year-old is expecting another difficult test against the high-flying Championship outfit, but is relishing the challenge as he bids to help City win all four of the trophies available to us.

“Two seasons ago we had a very tough game there,” added the playmaker.

“I think they are doing very well in the Championship. It is the FA Cup so anything can happen. It is a tough game away, but we want to qualify and we want to do well.

“We always have eyes on all four trophies every season. We know it is always tough.

"We are in the final of the Carabao Cup, now we are playing Swansea in the FA Cup, in the Premier League we are in a good position and we are in the last 16 of the Champions League.

“We are going to do our best to win them all, knowing it is a very tough task.”
