Ross on 'fantastic' year

TOP SCORER: Jane Ross leads the FA WSL goalscoring charts in her debut season

TOP SCORER: Jane Ross leads the FA WSL goalscoring charts in her debut season

Jane Ross has enjoyed a dream debut season with Man City Women.

The striker ended the Blues’ domestic campaign with two medals – a league title and the Continental Tyres Cup – and leading the goalscoring charts with 13 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions.

The Scotland international has slotted seamlessly into Nick Cushing’s side and has played a key role in the Blues’ season, which saw the champions crowned as Invincibles.

Reflecting on her maiden year in Manchester after the season finale, she told ManCity.com: “It’s been a fantastic season. I’m really happy. I'm a bit over-awed at the moment.

“It's been great to be scoring goals and helping the team win games and win trophies.

“I hadn't set a target but I'm glad I managed to hit double figures and we've still got two games left so hopefully, I can add to that tally.”

Though City’s domestic season is complete, the Blues still have Champions League games to prepare for, as they face Brondby IF in a two-legged tie in November.

Ross added she hopes her side can carry on making history, by booking a place in the quarter-finals in their debut season.

“We're looking to continue [our form],” she said.

“We've got a great group of players and we all want to work hard. Defensively and attacking-wise, we've been great this season.

“We're through to the last 16 and we've got two tough matches but we're hoping we can win them.”
