City face Gunners in semi-final of the Conti Cup

CELEBRATION: City celebrate Izzy Christiansen's opener at the Academy Stadium against Doncaster Rovers Belles.

CELEBRATION: City celebrate Izzy Christiansen's opener at the Academy Stadium against Doncaster Rovers Belles.

City face a repeat of the 2014 Continental Tyres Cup final after drawing current holders Arsenal Ladies in the semi-final of this year’s competition.

Yesterday’s 4-1 win over Doncaster Belles saw Nick Cushing’s side into the last four with the winners set to face the victors of the Birmingham City Ladies v London Bees clash.

The Blues will hope to repeat the 2-0 FAWSL win over the Gunners from earlier in the season when second-half goals from Jane Ross and Toni Duggan saw off the North Londoners.

The semi-final will take place at the Academy Stadium over the weekend of 3/4 September – ironically, a week before the Blues face Arsenal Ladies in the league.

With the added incentive of the Continental Tyres Cup final being held at the Academy Stadium in October, City will hope for a big crowd to cheer them home.

Ticket details for the semi-final will be announced shortly.
