Notts County v MCWFC: Match preview

Manchester City Women travel to Notts County on Wednesday night looking to return to winning ways.

Nick Cushing’s side suffered a disappointing league defeat to Arsenal last time out in their first competitive game for almost a month. The Gunners scored four without reply to gain revenge for City’s 1-0 victory in this season’s earlier meeting between the two teams in July.

The Blues will be keen to bounce back ahead of Sunday's crucial Continental Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea Ladies, when they will be aiming to reach a first ever cup final.

City  have locked horns with Wednesday’s opposition once already this season – Natasha Flint’s fine individual strike proved the difference between the two teams in a game of otherwise limited chances at the Manchester Regional Arena.

Victory for Cushing’s side would see them leapfrog Arsenal into fourth in the league table, while opponents Notts County lie five points behind City having played one game less.

The Magpies are now winless in their last four after a 1-0 loss to reigning Champions Liverpool Ladies ten days’ ago.

Kick off is at 7.30pm at the Meadow lane Stadium (NG2 3HJ). We’ll have live updates on twitter as well as a match report right here on mcfc.co.uk.
