Phil Foden and Leroy Sane are the two main focuses in this morning’s media round-up.

With the international matches about to begin, both Foden and Sane have been speaking ahead of their respective games for England Under-21s and Germany.

Foden is featured in a number of outlets, with Sky Sports focusing on the youngster’s inspirations and players he wants to emulate – with one club team-mate in particular shaping his game.

‘David Silva, because I've seen him come through at City,’ Foden revealed.

"I watch him closely, he's a great player and someone I want to be like in the future.

‘After that, probably Lionel Messi. I'm my own player, but they are great players.

‘They have great characters, the show that on the pitch, and impress me every time they play.’

Foden is again quoted, this time on Sport 360, in regard to the exciting group of youngsters coming through in the national team.

It reads: “England’s latest young crop of talent has been dubbed the new ‘Golden Generation’ after the David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard era – although they failed to meet expectations.

“The age groups have won the Under-17 World Cup, Under-20 World Cup and the Toulon Tournament for three straight years.

“And Foden believes the current crop of talent can become individually as good as the past stars.

“He said: ‘Yeah, definitely. We have got a lot of quality in the team and Jadon (Sancho) is an example. If you are playing well, he (Gareth Southgate) will give you a chance and he isn’t scared to call you up no matter what your age.

‘It is exciting times for England with all these exciting kids coming through and the great thing is Gareth isn’t afraid to give us a chance. It’s good.

‘Hopefully in the future we can win the World Cup. I think it is really good and it is going well.’

Finally. Leroy Sane has been speaking to the German press about his desire to kick on and put a summer of disappointment behind him.

After a stunning season with City, many believed he was an automatic choice for Germany at the World Cup – so when he was left out, it was something of a surprise to say the least.

The Daily Mail report: “Leroy Sane is eager to make the most of his opportunity after being recalled by Germany following his World Cup omission.

“The 22-year-old winger does not want to give boss Joachim Low 'any chance' of leaving him out again like he did in Russia.

“Sane failed to make Low's squad for the tournament despite the Manchester City player having won the Premier League and the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season.

“He told the German Football Association's official website: 'I was disappointed (to not go to the World Cup), but now I'm even more motivated.

N SANE TALENT : Leroy focused

'I want to show myself everywhere, enjoy the time here and learn. I want to improve every day.

'I can deal with open criticism, whether positive or negative. I respect that and try to work even more on myself. Criticism is an incentive for me and motivates me even more.'

'In the beginning it did not work right for me. I work all the time (so) that I fit in tactically better in the team. I do not want to give the coach any chance to stop nominating me.'

And that’s all for today… more of the same tomorrow.
