City begin their pre-season tour with a game against familiar opposition in Nanjing with the winners progressing to the final on Saturday against either Wolves or Newcastle United.
The Catalan believes the other English sides will be difficult, but it is aiming to start the tour off the way last season ended – with a trophy.
“They are all Premier League teams,” said Pep.
“West Ham, Newcastle and Wolves - who were the biggest surprise last season in the Premier League, doing incredibly well.
“West Ham we know so well and Manuel Pellegrini always likes to play football.
“So, it’s a nice group of teams, and we are going to try and reach the final.”
The boss also said the Blues will continue to aim high in all competitions this coming season.
City will look for a third successive Premier League title and the Champions League remains a huge target for the manager and players.
“Both are incredible trophies,” he said.
“The Premier League is the constant, every three days playing and playing.
“Winning games like that makes you happy all season.
“The Champions League is an incredibly prestigious trophy. Every season we are here together trying to win every competition and all games and at the end the quality of us and our opponents will make the difference.”
