The deadly double arrived in perfect time with Aguero absent through injury and the Champions desperately needing three points to kickstart our campaign.

The forward was in exceptional form at Turf Moor – back to his best following an uncharacteristic goal drought – and explained he was never concerned about his form, adding he is motivated by the success of his strike partner.

“Sometimes football is like this,” he reflected. “I know my qualities – I know I can score.

“I have Sergio with me – I have to learn from him. He’s a legend of football.

Discussing the triumph at Turf Moor, which bounced City back to winning ways in the Premier League in style, Gabriel Jesus admitted the squad knew the importance of producing a much-improved display.

“It was an important game,” he stated. “We are now eight points behind (Liverpool), so it was a good win for us.

“That is their level – the Premier League is like this. Burnley has good players and they are good with set-pieces.
