When Sergio Aguero opened City’s account for 2017/18 with his effort at Brighton and Hove Albion, who’d have known it would be the first of a record-breaking number of Premier League goals?
Even before Gabriel Jesus netted in injury time at Southampton on the final day to clinch a record-smashing century of points, the Blues had already rewritten the history books by breaking Chelsea’s record high of 103 goals in a Premier League season.
The feat was achieved with the 4-1 triumph at West Ham, which also ensured City were the quickest team to reach a Premier League century and also the first to score 100 goals twice in the competition, having also accomplished it in the 2013/14 campaign.
It’s said that variety is the spice of life and City netted an awesome assortments of goals with an equally-impressive number of goalscorers. Long-range rockets, beautifully-crafted team goals, moments of individual brilliance… we bagged ‘em all, including seven in one game!

City’s Champions League Round of 16 second leg clash against FC Basel will probably not rank amongst your season highlights (unless you’re a Basel fan!)… but history was made on that night at the Etihad Stadium.
It all started so well for the Blues, who already led 4-0 from the first leg in Switzerland, as Gabriel Jesus found the net with just seven minutes gone.

That goal – a close range finish, which completed an excellent team move – heralded City’s 100th Champions League goal.
Sadly, it would not prove to be the matchwinner, as Basel staged a hard-fought comeback with goals either side of the break to bring our impressive home run to an end – but with the progression all but sealed in the away leg, it would not prove to be a serious set-back.
The silver lining: another record to add to the collection…
