City have soared to the top of the Premier League after a breath-taking week or so of fantasy football, scoring 15 times in just three matches, two of which were away from home.
Though the boss urged calm, he must have been as thrilled as everyone else as the Blues recorded their biggest winning margin on the road since beating Reading 7-0 in a 1968 FA Cup tie.
“In the box, he is so, so clever. He has this power to do this and we need his goals.”
The boss also paid tribute to Gabriel Jesus who found the net for the fourth game running, adding: “Last season we only had seven or eight games with Gabriel - I thought he and Sergio could play together and they have shown this.
“Gabriel is a fighter he helps us for many reasons, he scores goals, he’s very important for us.
“But all my players were so good – to win 6-0 here at Watford is fantastic, especially after an away tie in the Champions League. We played as a team and we are so happy
“In general, it is complicated after a game away in Europe. I’m so happy for the players and their commitment - all of them – and for three more points and the way we played today.
“We found our game. We can make short passes, play with a lot of energy with our full backs going up and down and as a consequence of controlling the game, we kept another clean sheet.
“Winning games brings confidence. The reason we are here is to win games. Now we go to West Brom and after that, we have more games before the international break.”
Pep also revealed he was fine with Raheem Sterling taking the penalty instead of Aguero in the dying seconds, revealing: “You have to be serious until the end, because you never know about goal difference.
“Sergio did it when he made an assist to Gabriel when he could have scored himself against Liverpool, so it’s fine for me because we scored and it will give more confidence for Raheem.”
And that note of caution? The boss was keen to point out that the Blues raced out of the blocks in similar style last season and that there are many games still to go…
“We started last year quite similar and we are just in the beginning. I have to say big thank you to the Club for bringing in the new players because this kind of performance depends on the quality of the players.”
