Man City v West Brom: Guardiola delivers team news

Manchester City will be able to welcome John Stones back into the squad for the home clash with West Brom, but Fabian Delph is set to miss the rest of the season through injury.

Stones has not featured since the win over Hull on 8 April but will come back into contention in the last home game of the season. Delph, though, is unlikely to play again this season because of a leg problem.

Ahead of the match Guardiola called on the fans to help roar City onto a Champions League position, especially given the added emotion of Pablo Zabaleta's last game at the Etihad Stadium.

The manager said: "I have a lot of respect for people, players and managers who do what they do for a long time.

"His impact here was amazing, he was one of the first players to come here, he has helped the club to where it is right now.

"Hopefully all the fans can come to support us - we are playing for a lot of important things - more than ever, and to express gratitude for one of the most important players in the history of Manchester City."

Guardiola was not drawn on discussing the futures of other members of the squad, keeping the focus firmly on City's remaining two games, with a trip to Watford following the West Brom match.

"Tuesday is the important thing," he said. "From next Sunday we will be focused and see what decisions we will take. For now it’s so important to stay in the present. At the end of the season we will speak about this.

"We are still playing for important things. We have two finals left and we have to focus on that."

On West Brom, Guardiola said: "They are professionals they will play to win, Tony Pulis teams don’t play thinking it doesn’t matter. It’s a real final for us, and we are going to be ready."

City defeated West Brom 4-0 at the Hawthorns with two goals apiece from Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan.
