Things We Love: Adopted Mancunian and Magic Lamps

What's caught our attention on the world wide web this week?

In our latest edition of Things We Love, Club Journalist Caroline Oatway rounds up the best of the internet's offerings from the past seven days…

Adopted Mancunian

Oh, Pablo Zabaleta, he is the… man!

Our Argentine fan favourite has spoken many times of his love of the Club – and of Manchester (the feeling is very much mutual) – and he’s done so again with Four Four Two.

Now here’s a statement: apparently, ZabMan is so fond of our glorious city, he actually misses the rain when he travels abroad! (I’m not sure even those Mancunian born and bred would admit to that).

The defender also speaks of his loyalty, determination and commitment.

A must-read!

Baby De Bruyne

All together now: awwwwwww!

You’ll find plenty of pictures featuring little Mason Milian on Kevin De Bruyne’s Instagram page.

It’s been said before the adorable tyke bears a striking resemblance to our Belgian Blue, but KDB proved otherwise, sharing this snap of fiancée Michèle Lacroix as a baby.

This one certainly raised a smile!

When people say that our son looks like me but in reality looks more like Michele when she was young😍 @lacroixmichele

Learning the lingo

Bonzer! Absolutely loved this video Melbourne posted to celebrate Australia Day.

It features Aussie Luke Brattan, attempting to teach his foreign teammates some of the local language.

Thomas Sorensen, Bruno Fornaroli and Michael Jakobsen were selected to practice the phrase “chuck me a biccy, I need to sink it in my cuppa!”

It provided amusing viewing!

Inspiration

Like many of us, Raheem Sterling idolised Ronaldinho growing up.

The Brazilian World Cup winner – a legend of the game – is naturally considered a hero to many in the footballing world, and he’s spoken of his pride.

"It's very emotional for me to inspire world-class players – people like [Paul] Pogba and Sterling,” he declared.

“They are already among the best and it's great to see them scoring the goals that make people love the sport even more.”

New signing, they have

So, UD Almeria signed Karim Abdul Yoda on loan.

Write themselves, do the puns…

Blossoming

Of course, we’re avid followers of indie pop band Blossoms.

Lead singer Tom Ogden and drummer Joe Donovan are Blues, and they’ve visited us at City Football Academy to film some cool content before.

The quintet from Stockport have been nominated for ‘Best British Breakthrough Act’ at the upcoming BRITs and ‘Best New Artist’ at the NME Awards (congrats, guys!) and they’ve released a video for their latest single ‘Honey Sweet’, paying tribute to their hometown.

In it, they cycle around, searching for Back to the Future's DeLorean time machine. Take a look – you can watch it exclusively on ShortList.com.

Magic Lamps

Former Blue Frank Lampard announced his retirement from professional football on Thursday.

The midfielder called time on a glittering career, in which he scooped numerous team and individual honours.

Lampard made 38 appearances for City in the 2014/15 season, scoring eight times. He quickly became a fans’ favourite.

We particularly enjoyed this tribute, by the Premier League…

Thanks for the memories, Frank! Wishing you the best of luck.
