LOAN RANGERS: How our boys are getting on across Europe

LOAN RANGERS: How our boys are getting on across Europe

There were assists and debuts for Man City's loan stars across Europe this weekend...

Patrick Roberts needed just 15 minutes to make an impact in Celtic’s 3-0 win at Albion Rovers.

The winger was introduced on 75 minutes and was involved in the creation of two goals, first jinking past three defenders and setting up Scott Brown to cross for Moussa Dembele; then repeating the feat to weave his way into the area and square for Stuart Armstrong to seal the win.

Also in Scotland, Billy O’Brien made his debut for St Mirren and kept a clean sheet in their triumph over Dundee.

The official website reported the goalkeeper made some fine stops in the first half and he was selected for interview afterwards.

In Holland, Bersant Celina grabbed an assist for Twente in their 1-0 win over Heracles. The Kosovan whipped in an excellent first-time cross for Joachim Andersen to head home.

Enes Unal completed 90 minutes, whilst Yaw Yeboah was brought off at half-time.

For NAC Breda, Thomas Agyepong and Manu Garcia and were involved in the opening goal of their 2-0 win over Achilles 29.

The former found the latter on the edge of the box, who in turn poked the ball to Cyriel Dessers to smash in. Like Agyepong, Ashley Smith-Brown played the full game, while home debutant Garcia was substituted in injury time. James Horsfield remained on the bench, and Brandon Barker remains sidelined through injury.

Meanwhile, Shay Facey made his first Heerenveen appearance since September, coming off the bench for the final ten minutes of their 4-3 defeat at PSV. Oleksandr Zinchenko was an unused substitute for the hosts.

In Spain, Pablo Maffeo helped Girona to a 2-0 victory over Sevilla B with an assist, crossing for Francisco Sandaza to convert. Angelino was not in the squad.

Also, Eliaquim Mangala completed the full game for Valencia in their 2-0 triumph at Villarreal. The Frenchman was named in Who Scored’s La Liga Team of the Week.

Marlos Moreno was brought on with ten minutes left of Deportivo’s 1-1 draw at Las Palmas.

In England, Jason Denayer was forced off after 78 minutes as Sunderland fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Brom. The Belgian took a painful shot to the groin, in a 50-50 challenge with Claudio Yacob and was unable to continue.

In Italy, Bruno Zuculini made his debut for Hellas Verona with a 15-minute cameo in their 2-0 loss at Latina, while Joe Hart was also on the losing side as Torino lost by the same score at Bologna.

Wilfried Bony was on the scoresheet at the African Cup of Nations, in the Ivory Coast’s 2-2 draw with Congo. The striker equalised for the Elephants, heading in Max Gradel’s corner.
