Sergio Aguero admits he had a wry smile on his face when City were again paired with Barcelona in this season’s Champions League draw.
Wednesday’s clash will be the fifth meeting in less than three years between the Clubs who seem unable to avoid each other – despite having never previously met competitively.
Now Kun is set to again face his best pal Lionel Messi who has so far been on the winning side on all four occasions.
“Honestly, it wasn’t a total surprise to see us drawn in the same group,” laughed Aguero.
“It must be fate, mustn’t it? The good thing is that it’s becoming a derby of sorts. Playing with one of the best teams of the world will also give us a better impression of our progress.”
Suarez, Messi and Neymar – how do you stop the most prolific forward line in the world? Aguero believes the fact that Messi is part of that trio is problem enough…
“That’s a formidable frontline by itself – but it should be enough to simply say that the best player in the world is part of it,” he said.
“It’s important to remember it’s not just their offensive trio, though – Barca have been developing their overall style for years. They’ve perfected it to a certain extent and that makes them even more difficult to play.
“I think that the difference now is that our styles have become more similar.

“We’ll have to see how it plays out. Every match is different and we’re still at the beginning of a process that has proven beneficial, but yet to be established.
“There’s one thing I know for certain – it’s going to be quite a game and it’s one we’re all looking forward to.”
