Top ten Hart stoppers of 2014/15

Hart

It takes a brave person to attempt to rank Joe Hart’s top ten saves from this 2014/15 season.

Thankfully, CityTV is packed with such courageous types who have trawled the archives and slammed fists on tables to come up with their definitive countdown.

Joe’s save from Federico Fernandez against Swansea City has attracted headlines all over the world, with many pondering whether it was one of the greatest ever seen in the Premier League.

You’ll have to watch the video to see where we place it in this season’s list… or you could cheat and scroll down but that wouldn’t be half as much fun now, would it?

Top ten Hart saves from 14/15

To compile our list we tried to take into account the quality of stop and the situation in the match at the time of the save.

It’s been an incredible season for Hart, arguably his best since arriving at the club from Shrewsbury in 2006.

If he can keep a clean sheet against Southampton, he will at least tie for the Premier League’s Golden Gloves award for most shut outs.

Time and time again, Joe has won points for his side this season and he has produced one of the great City performances of recent times at the Camp Nou against Barcelona, making ten saves which left Lionel Messi to describe him as a “phenomenon”.

On his most recent wonder save, Hart beamed: “Keepers can end up looking very foolish if they start celebrating saves,” Hart said.

“It would have been nice if the whistle had been blown straight after it that would have made it a lot easier to enjoy.

“It felt good at the time, but to finish the job off made it better.

“It really did feel good. It wasn’t in the corner so I couldn’t tip it - I had to save it and I did that, pushing it over the bar.”
