Joe Hart is expecting a tough test when City travel to Leicester, but he insists confidence is high throughout the squad ahead of the return to Premier League action on Saturday.

After a superb win in Rome on Wednesday that secured a place in the last 16 of the Champions League, City now turn attentions back to domestic matters with a run of five league games before facing Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup in the New Year.

The Foxes are without a win in ten games, but Hart is taking nothing for granted against a team he believes have shown exactly why they were promoted as Champions last season.

Hart told mcfc.co.uk: “We are going to get hard game from Leicester. They have struggled a bit recently with results but they have just fallen the wrong side of the odd goal.

“They have been competitive in everything they’ve done and they fully deserve to be in this league and the King Power Stadium is a hard place to go.”

Manuel Pellegrini’s men are in a rich vein of form, and will seeking to extend a run of six consecutive victories in all competitions to cut the three point gap at the top of the table.

While City will be missing the injured Sergio Aguero in attack, England’s no.1 maintains that the squad is peaking at the right time and the club is blessed with top quality players who can keep the goals flowing.

He declared: “We feel confident in what we do. There are a lot of us and people peak at different times, but I think everyone is in a good moment, the manager knows his players and we know how he wants us to play. We’re finding a nice balance.

“We’re aware of what we are as a club and what we are as a unit and a squad.

"We have some fantastic players who are more than ready to step in. There’s going to be goals.”

Leicester will also be forced to take to the field without one of their star performers, former blue Kasper Schmeichel.

Hart was full of praise for his fellow goalkeeper, who has been ruled out for at least a month with a metatarsal injury, and he has little doubt Kasper will be a big miss for Nigel Pearson’s side over the festive period.

“Kasper is a good friend of mine off the field,” said Joe. “He was great to me when I first came to this club and we’ve remained close since.

“He’s been absolutely brilliant in everything he’s done, he’s a massive part of Leicester and what they’ve done this season.”

However, Hart himself will go into the game in confident mood after a series of impressive displays that earned him a nomination for the November Player of the Month.

He added: "I feel good at the moment and the team is working well. I feel like I am doing my bit and the boys are doing it at the other end."
