City stars caught up in Serbia chaos

The game between Serbia and Albania was abandoned after 42 minutes following ugly scenes on and off the pitch in Belgrade.

Aleksandar Kolarov and Matija Nastasic both started and were on the pitch when a drone flew over the pitch with an as yet unidentified flag attached that caused a furious reaction from the Belgrade crowd and there were reportedly ugly scenes as players and officials from both sides clashed and emotions spilled over.

With the score 0-0 and tensions running high Premier League referee Martin Atkinson ordered play to be suspended and eventually abandoned the game. It was the first time Albania had played in Belgrade since 1967 and there were no visiting fans allowed to attend.

No doubt there were will be more information on events in Belgrade as the evening progresses.

Elsewhere, several City stars were named in squads for friendly matches but were largely unused substitutes.

Sergio Aguero and Martin Demichelis both watched on as Argentina thrashed Hong Kong 7-0, though Pablo Zabaleta did make an appearance as a 60th-minute sub during the rout.

Likewise Bacary Sagna and Eliaquim Mangala who sat out France's 3-0 win in Armenia.
