Will Ronaldo be back for Blues clash?

It is the fixture we have all been waiting for and it’s now just over a week until the Blues welcome Los Blancos to The Etihad Stadium.

Real Madrid could be without their main attraction though when they land in Manchester, after Cristiano Ronaldo was forced to leave their latest La Liga outing with an eye injury.

Despite this and having to deal with dreadful conditions at the Ciutat de València, Jose Mourinho’s men managed to ground out a 2-1 victory.

Just as it looked as though the match was going to end in stalemate, the visitors found an unlikely saviour in Alvaro Morata, who netted his first goal for the club when he headed in a last minute winner.

Ronaldo’s condition kept him from travelling to Gabon with his national squad for tomorrow’s friendly, but time will tell if he is fit enough to face the Blues next week.

Borussia Dortmund continued their run of good form, winning 3-1 away at FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga - just days after drawing with Madrid in the Champions League.

The defending champions never really looked under pressure at the SGL Arena and seemed to stroll to a comfortable victory.

Jürgen Klopp’s men have really shown that they are a force to be reckoned with at home and abroad, with some even suggesting they could be in Europe for the long haul.

Meanwhile, a convincing 4-2 away win over newly promoted Eredivisie outfit PEC Zwolle means Ajax are still unbeaten away from home in the league so far this season.

Despite this record though, Frank de Boer's side have been far from convincing, having won just six of their 12 league games meaning they sit in fourth position, nine points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven.
