Record breaking Blues

Not only was the stunning victory over Chelsea last time out at the Etihad Stadium integral for the Blues to keep pace with United at the Premier League’s summit, it also marked a record twentieth consecutive home league win.

City are the first club to achieve this feat since the inception of the Premier League 20 years ago and only the fourth in top flight history, joining Liverpool, Newcastle United and Preston North End.

The Blues’ remarkable run began back on 5 March 2011 when a David Silva goal was enough to squeeze past a stubborn Wigan side. City then followed it up with a crushing five goal victory over this Saturday’s opponents Sunderland.
