Edin Dzeko admits that even he was blown away by new strike partner Sergio Aguero's stunning debut against Swansea.
Bosnia star Dzeko opened the scoring on Monday night but it was the Argentine who stole the limelight and fans' hearts with a sensational Etihad Stadium start off the bench.
He said: "It’s amazing for a new player to come on for the last 30 minutes and score two goals.
"I'm very happy for him, but I am also happy for City in getting a player like him – he can only help us in the future.
“And he is not even 100 per cent fit yet! In the next games he can only get better and better. He scored twice when not fit, so we can’t wait to see what he is like at 100 per cent."
That dream debut underlined the intense competition for places up front as Roberto Mancini's men aim to improve on last season's third place finish to go with the FA Cup.
Dzeko said: "Every good player is welcome to our team as we want to win titles. We saw what Sergio brings – he is an amazing striker. But we also have Mario and Carlos as well, if he stays.
We have four good strikers, but no-one can play every week
"This season we could have over 60 games so playing every week is not possible, especially with playing for the national teams."
Edin is ready to fight for a regular place after a modest start last season: "The beginnings have always been slow for me, and that was the case here, but this year I feel much better than last.
“For every player it is important to be fit and have a good pre-season behind him. This summer I have done everything with the team and that makes you feel better.
“The fans have carried on supporting me and I want to thank them for that. I want to improve in every game ... I try to do my best in every game to help the team."
