Vincent Kompany has won the Etihad Player of the Year, in association with the Manchester City Supporters Club.

Runner-up was David Silva with Carlos Tevez third, and the winner collected his award at the glittering  MCFC Awards ceremony held at the City of Manchester Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Belgian was the overwhelming choice of the fans and he completed a memorable double by also being voted Jaguar Players’ Player of the Year by his team-mates.

Vincent, who arrived at the Club in August 2008, generously paid tribute to his team mates when picking up his awards and told mcfc.co.uk, "It’s an unbelievable sign of recognition and I’m so happy about it, but tonight is about individual awards. It’s about recognising the team and without the team none of this would have happened. I’m delighted but I know who I owe it to.

"You expect your fellow players to know the most about it, they see you every day so it was great to get this, but it could have been any of us which is a sign of how strong we’ve been as a team. I thank my team mates, but the thing that stood out for me was us winning the FA Cup."

Mario Balotelli won the Supporters Club Young Player of the Year award, and there was deserved recognition for a long-serving member of the behind-the-scenes team.

Other awards included Carlos Tevez picking up the Goal of the Season for his stunning free-kick against Stoke last week and Joe Hart, who set the bar for the season ahead with a stunning display at Spurs on the opening day, won the Performance of the Season.

Head Groundsman Lee Jackson won the Outstanding Contribution award, following in the esteemed footsteps of Bernard Halford and Les Chapman in recent years.
