Title fight still alive, Johnson tells rivals

Adam Johnson goes into the showdown with champions Chelsea convinced that the Barclays Premier League title campaign still contains a few twists and turns.

While the Stamford Bridge battle of the Blues will surely be a TV highlight of the day, many observers have switched to the conclusion that a tream in red will pip the rest.

But AJ insists: "We are battling with all the teams at the top and the top two aren't too far off. A couple of bad results for them and everything changes again.

"Everyone says the title is done for us, but two defeats for Man Utd or Arsenal and a couple of win for us or Chelsea, and it is back on. Anything can happen, and I still think there is a lot of football to be played.

"Any time you go to Stamford Bridge, it is tough. We won 4-2 there last season, but it was a really difficult game. They are still a top, top team. Nobody is safe for a Champions League spot - it is up to us to take every game as it comes."

Despite that stirring victory last season, City missed out on a Champions League berth in the final, frustrating week of the season, a setback Johnson aims to avoid this time around.

He says: "It wasn't necessarily against the top teams where we faded. We gave away a lot of points to teams where we were in front and conceded late goals.

Other games, we made 20 chances and couldn't put it in the net

"Hopefully this year will be different and we will learn from our lesson from last year. Champions League is probably the minimum we expect."

Ashley Cole awaits at Stamford Bridge, and Adam adds: "Ash is a world-class player, for me probably the best left-back in the world. It's going to be tough against him but I will try and get out there and give him a hard time."
