Carrington Friday: Carlos' birthday treat

Training Pre Leicester9

Training Pre Leicester9

It's a busy time at Carrington, but nothing gets past the lens of our photographer!

Good to see Nigel de Jong without that enormo-bandage from the other night, but Jerome Boateng and Pablo Zabaleta are frankly unimpressed with his claim that his first City goal is just around the corner.

It looks like David Platt has chosen the wrong time to tell the boss how good "The King's Speech" is.

Under the watchful eye of an interested onlooker, Carlos prepares to get a grilling from CityTV's Neil Cole. We couldn't get Paxman.

On the training pitch, there's an outbreak of formation jogging but only Aleksandar Kolarov seems to have sussed that team leader Edin Dzeko is going into this with his eyes closed.

Joe Hart has not missed this, he's just stuck the ball to the back of his glove.

Definitely a case of "less is more" when it comes to the cake, but it's the thought that counts. Carlos is 27 tomorrow, but behind-the-scenes footage of the squad and staff singing "Happy birthday" have hit the cutting room floor, sadly. February 5 is also the birthday of actor Michael Sheen, actress Jennifer Jason Leigh and "Alien" monster designer HR Giger. Fact!
