It was Manchester vs New York all over Manhattan over the weekend.
Blues fans going to Friday’s game against Sporting Lisbon stopped the traffic in a fleet of open top buses that took them from the Mad Hatter Bar to the Red Bull Arena in Harrison New Jersey.
In Chinatown, City’s New York Supporter’s Club took on a mixture of City staff and locals in a street soccer pick-up game while over on Randall’s Island, local children completing their week-long CITC soccer skills course were presented with their certificates by Club Ambassador Mike Summerbee.
Then in midtown at the Highbar on West 48th Street, Manchester DJ Mike Pickering went head to head over the turntables with one of the founding fathers of hip-hop, the legendary Afrika Bambaataa. The result was a draw, with the pair trading some old school classics until the early hours.
