Ball joins Robins' nest

City striker David Ball has joined Swindon Town on loan until next January with immediate effect.

Despite media reports suggesting the 20-year-old had left to join the Robins a week ago, there were still a couple of loose ends to tie up before the deal could be officially announced.

Now the Manchester-born Ball will aim to gain much-needed senior level experience and show Roberto Mancini what he is capable of with the League One side after an injury-plagued season with the Blues last year.

Though he has appeared on the bench a couple of times for City, a troublesome foot injury meant he was absent for the best part of three months during the last campaign, but by the end of the season he was again looking sharp and hungry in the reserve team.

"David is somebody who we think could help us," said Swindon boss Danny Wilson.
