Micah on target in U21 thriller

Micah Richards scores goooooooooooooallllll!!!!!

Micah Richards scores goooooooooooooallllll!!!!!

Micah Richards got onto the scoresheet as he skippered the England Under 21 side in their 6-3 win over Macedonia at the Ricoh Arena on Friday night.

Stuart Pearce's side were already a goal up when the City defender powered in his header from a Jack Wilshere corner on 29 minutes, but was far from plain sailing from that point onwards. The visitors dragged the score back to 2-2, then 3-3 before England moved clear towards the end of the game.

Richards could have added to his tally but for a fine save by Naumoski, and England are now second behind Greece in 2011 European Championship qualifying group nine.

City defender Clayton McDonald has extended his loan spell at Walsall for another month.

The 20-year-old has played six times for the Saddlers since the start of his initial agreement, and with the side losing just once in that time he has impressed manager Chris Hutchins enough to secure another deal.
