Sven reflects on Wednesday win

Sven-Goran Eriksson is delighted with the way that the pre-season tour of Sweden is going following City’s 4-1 win over Orgryte IS on Wednesday.

The Blues eased to victory in front of around 6,000 fans, a record crowd at the stadium in Varberg.

Italian striker Rolando Bianchi opened the scoring when he finished off a flowing move on 18 minutes, with Corradi, Samaras and Logan adding the rest after half time.

Sven says: “We were better in the first half, but we scored the goals in the second.

“It was good to see Rolando Bianchi play so well on his debut, and to see Richards, Onuoha and Dunne perform so solidly in defence. The three debutantes all had very good games.

“It was important for Rolando’s confidence that he scored a goal. He’s really a week or nine days behind everyone else because he only had two training sessions without a ball at Reggina before he came here. He needs time, but he is a very good player.

“A Premier League game would be more difficult but it was good that three of our strikers scored. The training camp has been excellent and it will breed confidence in the squad.”

New signing Rolando Bianchi will partner Emile Mpenza in City's forward line for the friendly against Örgyte IS in Varberg, Sweden, tonight. There's a youthful look to the side, with the versatile Shaleum Logan playing on the right side of midfield, while Gelson Fernandes will, like Bianchi, pull on a City shirt for the first time when he plays alongside Michael Johnson.
