Pozo rues missed opportunity
Iker Pozo says that City’s EDS side should have beaten West Ham by making better use of their chances.

The Spanish midfielder started a consecutive game for City’s second string for the first time but was disappointed not to come away with a positive result.

West Ham took the lead in the 34th minute with an unstoppable free-kick, and Pozo believes City should have got back into the game.

“They pressed really well in the first half, they played really well so it was harder to play and play out” the 17-year-old said.

“In the second half they dropped off so we had more time on the ball and it was easier to play out.

“We played better and we could have won the game but we didn’t take our chances so we’re unlucky to lose today.”

Pozo looked comfortable in his new-found surroundings in the EDS set-up, making only his third appearance for Simon Davies’s side.

And the jump up from the under-18s has not daunted the younger brother of former City prospect, José Pozo.

“I had a good time in the under-18s but stepping up to the under-23s it’s a bit harder,” he said.

“It’s a bit of a quicker pace and you have to get used to it.

“I want to keep playing as much as I can and keep improving.”
