Grimsby-born EDS full-back Adam Drury has been with the club since 2007 and has ascended the ranks, thanks to his pace, crossing ability and lung-busting stamina.
Adam has recently returned from a half-season loan spell at Scottish Premier League outfit St Mirren and is hoping to head out on a temporary basis once again in the second half of the 2014/15 season.
We caught up with him to find out what makes him tick, both on and off the field, in our latest light-hearted Q & A session…
Name: Adam Drury
Age: 21-years old.
2014/15 SPL stats: 12 appearances/Three goals
Loan spell at St Mirren…?
It was really good at first, I was playing every game and I managed to make myself the top goal scorer with three goals. Towards the end of the year, I wasn’t playing so much, so I decided to come back and look to go out somewhere else.
First impressions of City Football Academy...?
It’s unbelievable, the facilities are ridiculous. There’s probably no better place in the world to be.
Best City moment so far…?
Going to the Nike Cup at under-14 level and scoring a last minute equaliser against Chelsea.
What rule change would I like in football…?
Sock tape, I don’t see why it’s a big deal for it to be the same colour as your socks..
Favourite player of all time…?
Cafu – I’m a right-back now and I look at him because he was one of the best in the world in his time.
Best friends in football…?
First football memory…?
In the back garden booting balls at my brother who is a goalkeeper. I think my next door neighbour’s greenhouse might have taken a few beatings! A few panels needed to be replaced but Mummy and Daddy managed to sort that out, I think!
Best goal I've ever seen…?
For the moment and the occasion, David Beckham’s free-kick against Greece at Old Trafford that qualified England for the World Cup.
Favourite City first-teamers…?
If I could speak another language…?
Spanish – a few lads speak it in the dressing room and it’d be good to know what they’re saying.
Dream holiday destination…?
Vegas – I’m going there in the summer and can’t wait. Vegas, here I come!
Dodgeball. Can't go wrong!
Favourite TV show…?
I’m a soap addict. I tend to watch Corrie, Eastenders and then also Celebrity Big Brother when that’s on.
Best/Worst school subjects…?
Passed PE with flying colours. I had no Scooby Doo with Science.
Musical guilty pleasure…?
One Direction, I'm afraid.
Culinary guilty pleasure…?
Creme Eggs – when it’s Easter, they seem to be my downfall.
If I wasn't a footballer…?
I’d probably be a PE teacher, I like the idea of being involved in sport.
If I could have super powers…?
Super human strength – I’d just like to know what it’s like to massive!
