City EDS striker Jose Angel Pozo underwent x-rays on Friday evening but no broken bone was found.
There were real concerns for the Spanish frontman when he went down in agony under a Kevin Mbabu challenge in the 87th minute of City’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United.
Pozo left the field on a stretcher with a splint attached to his leg and was rushed to hospital but x-rays have shown that the bone is still intact.
Jose took to Twitter later on Friday evening to confirm that his injury wasn't as serious as he had first feared.
"Good night, in the end the injury wasn't as bad as I thought, now I need to recover," the striker tweeted with a picture of his ankle in a protective boot.
The Spain u17 international gave City the lead in the 18th minute of Friday's match with an excellent right-footed effort from the edge of the penalty area.
However, late goals from Gillead and Amalfitano dashed City's hopes of a first win in six.
Although it's a relief that the City EDS top-scorer has no break, he will still need to undergo further tests next week to determine the extent of the damage sustained to his leg.
These tests will dictate what role, if any, the 17-year old will play in the remaining weeks of the season.
Attilio Lombardo will be hoping there's no significant damage to Pozo as his side has a busy final month of their season ahead, with Manchester and Lancashire Senior Cup fixtures to factor in alongside the remaining Barclays u21 Premier League matches away at Stoke and at home to Norwich.
You can view an updated list of the remaining fixtures on the EDS fixtures page and you can watch Pozo's wonderful opening goal in this week's Inside City Episode 71.
We’ll bring you updates on Jose’s condition when we know more but it seems unlikely he'll be involved when City EDS are next in action, away to Bolton Wanderers in the Manchester Senior Cup on Thursday.
