Vincent Kompany gets an unexpected run-out tonight in the experienced reserve team that tackles Blackburn Rovers at Leigh Sports Village (kick-off 7pm).

The Belgium star missed the 3-3 Premier League draw against Burnley before the international break with a slight hamstring tear and was an unused substitute at Anfield on Saturday.

Vince is in good company for the Reserve League North fixture - senior squad team-mates Michael Johnson, Benjani and Javier Garrido are also named in coach Glyn Hodges' strong line-up.

Team: Gunnar Nielsen, Kieran Trippier, Greg Cunningham, Dedryck Boyata, Ben Mee, Michael Johnson,  Robbie Mak, Vincent Kompany, James Poole, Benjani, Javier Garrido. Substitutes: Alex Nimely, Tobias Johansen, Paul Marshall, Andrew Tutte, Abdisalam Ibrahim.
